Dr. Adeeb’s Top Priorities
“I want to live in a city that values and embraces all people, and creates opportunity and a pathway to a brighter future for everyone. I want people to dream big and know they can make those dreams come true here in Seaside. Together as a community, I believe we can achieve this.” -Dr. Ayman Adeeb
AFFORDABLE & LIFECYCLE HOUSING
There is a tremendous need for afforable housing in Seaside. As a business owner, I have gone through the process of building affordable housing on the Peninsula and within Seaside. It’s a cumbersome process, with many procedural barriers. If elected, I will work hard to streamline and create efficiencies within local government so more housing choices and stock can be developed for all residents within Seaside.
We cannot let the rising cost of housing in The City of Seaside force out the hard-working families, seniors on fixed incomes and young professionals, who help make our neighborhoods special. I want to make home ownership attainable for more families like those I have met across the City who worry that they will need to look outside Seaside if they want to buy a home. We need to find more ways to help first-time home buyers overcome hurdles to shape their own economic future. Investments to increase the amount of affordable housing and affordable workforce housing are requirements for well-rounded smart, dynamic and fair economic growth.
We are blessed to have CSUMB as part of our wonderful City. It provides educational growth and employment opportunities for many. As a Council member, I would strive to continue to build community partnerships and great employment opportunities for recent and future graduates. As a Dentist, it would be my dream to have a Medical School or greater social services programs at the University. There is much opportunity that the Campus brings to Seaside, and as your Council member I will ensure continued partnerships and advocate for growth of the campus as well as long term employment opportunities for all graduates.
We have a tremendous opportunity to create a diverse vision for Seaside with the recently transfered FORA land. I will work tirelessly with the residents of Seaside and elected officials to help develop this land to be beneficial for all Seaside residents.
JOBS AND CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
We live in an unprecedented time of uncertainties. The current challenges we face including public health, and the future of our hospitality and tourism industries will need complex and creative solutions.
I will be able to use my experience of building successful businesses to create such solutions by partnering with Seaside residents, elected officals and the various public agencies on the Peninsula and beyond. We need to create a business friendly environment to encourage private investment in Seaside, to provide the living wage jobs and careers that our residents want.
With national attention being where it is, I firmly believe that continued investment in our Fire and Police safety services will ensure Seaside’s continued safety and great opportunities for growth. I was born and raised in Egypt, growing up there, I learned the value of safety within a community as public safety services were not always present. As ypur Council member, I will consider this investment in our city resources paramount to ensuring future opportunities and ensuring all Seaside residents feel safe.
I will work with the rest of City Council to provide responsible oversight for our law enforcement and other first responders throughout the peninsula and beyond. We need to provide law enforcement with the right tools and proper training to keep our community safe.
“As a minority, I feel safer with our brave and diverse Police and Fire men and women who serve Seaside. We want them to know that they have our support as well. It is important to realize that these men and women are both protectors of the community as well as members of the community, and they are brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, and neighbors.”
Like many municipalities, “basic services” including street and sidewalk maintenance continually need investment and oversight to ensure safe transportation options for all Seaside residents and visitors. The Previous Council has approved a 5 year plan to update the most critical and cost effective streets within Seaside. As your Council member, I would advocate for updates on the progress made not just on street repair projects, but on all City Council projects at least quarterly.
Water has long been a challenge for Seaside. My vision to overcome this challenge would be to leverage new technologies like “water-from-air”, work with researchers from CSUMB for fog collection, and implement greater water saving technologies. Water presence is critical for Oppotunities within Seaside. I would also work with elected officals from County offices and from across the Salinas Valley, where there is an abundance of water. My focus would be to find solutions that best serve Seaside’s growing water needs and to reduce the exorbitant cost of water that Seaside residents are paying today.
